Have your say on the future of the built environment in association with Sponge

The Central Arena at Greenbuild Expo 2010 will host a variety of discussion sessions looking at the future of sustainable building, with input from a range of expert speakers and chaired by Sponge, a network of built environment professionals with an interest in sustainable development.
Each session will look at a different aspect of sustainable building, with introductions from guest speakers to get things started before delegates split into small groups to discuss the particular issue and consider questions posed by the panel.

Opening speech
Manchester City Council’s executive member for the environment will officially open Greenbuild Expo 2010 and will talk about the city’s Climate Change Action Plan.

This session will look at why we need to focus on materials and what the future holds for sustainable construction products.

Looking at projects such as MASDAR and BedZed and applying lessons learned to existing communities.

This session will be an excellent opportunity to meet the team and hear from Directors at the UK Green Building Council about the purpose of our campaign and our mission, including information on our latest programme of work to provide information, enable action and influence government policy and industry practice. The future of construction skills
The panel will discuss what skills are needed to achieve a sustainable construction industry and how we ensure this knowledge is shared.
Speakers to include: SummitSkills and UK Green Building Council.

The future value of sustainability
The panel will ponder where the funding for sustainable buildings will come from and how it could affect value.
Speakers to include: RICS, BRE and
The Green Register.
